NASCAR Notes: Ross Chastain finished runner-up in NASCAR Champ 4 debut | Sports

Avondale, Arizona. After a season off to his career – a dramatic first victory and lap to qualify for the NASCAR Cup Series – Ross Chastain insisted he was more hopeful than disappointed after he failed to raise his first trophy in the races on Sunday.

Chastain’s #1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet finished third in the Phoenix Raceway season finale—1.2 seconds off the winner, and new 2022 Series Champion Joey Logano. After moving up from 25th on the grid and competing within the top five for most of the last laps, Chastain felt confident that he and the two-year-old Trackhouse Racing team had done everything they could. And if nothing else, set the stage for future tournaments.
